The Czech carmaker itself started five of its cars in the rally, which covered a total of just under 700 kilometres across Germany and the Czech Republic. The other ŠKODA cars sported the colours of the importer ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland and private owners, with a total of over 170 cars lining up at the start in Zwickau, Germany.

The three-day rally culminated in Saturday’s “royal” stage of Dresden – Mladá Boleslav – Dresden, a total of 320 km. On the premises of the ŠKODA production plant, the crews were treated to a passage through a hall with a state-of-the-art PXL II press, two measured sections on the test circuit and lunch in one of the employee canteens. In front of the ŠKODA Museum, an exhibition of the most successful racing cars commemorated 120 years of the brand’s motorsport activities.

Both sporting icons and beautiful touring cars represented the Czech carmaker in the celebrations. One of the stars of the event was a ŠKODA 1100 OHC from 1957. One of only two examples produced, it now graces the ŠKODA Museum’s collections, and seeing it in action is a great treat for spectators. The elegant roadster was complemented by two examples of the ŠKODA 110 R, which in its day became the technical foundation for other racing legends: the ŠKODA 130 RS, 200 RS and 180 RS. Other rally highlights were a two-door ŠKODA 1100 MBX De Luxe from 1969 and a turquoise-coloured ŠKODA FELICIA convertible from 1962.
