› From the Octavia to the Enyaq iV: All-wheel drive available for four body styles

Mladá Boleslav, 17 January 2023 – Škoda Auto currently offers six model series with 4×4 drive: the Octavia, Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq as well as models in the Enyaq iV family. Alongside saloons, estate cars and SUVs, the all-wheel-drive range also includes a coupé SUV, and in terms of powertrains, there are petrol and diesel models as well as all-electric vehicles. The range of trim levels is also diverse, ranging from Scout and Sportline variants to RS and L&K versions. The performance spectrum extends from 110 kW (150 hp) in the Octavia, Karoq and Kodiaq to 206 kW (280 hp) in the Superb and up to 220 kW* (299 hp) in the all-electric RS models of the Enyaq iV family.
Škoda Octavia
The brand’s best-selling 4×4 pioneer is also available in its fourth generation as a saloon and estate with a host of trim levels. In the Ambition and Style lines, the 4×4 powertrain is available in combination with the 110 kW (150 hp) 2.0 TDI, while the Octavia Sportline and the Octavia Scout, which is only available as an estate, also offer the 2.0 TSI with a 140 kW (190 hp) output. Another engine available for the Octavia Scout is the 2.0 TDI with an output of 147 kW (200 hp) that Škoda also installs in the sporty Octavia RS. The Octavia comes equipped with a sixth-generation electronic multi-plate clutch. Weighing around 0.8 kilograms less than its predecessor, it has optimised efficiency, resulting in lower fuel consumption. Its integrated control unit also ensures faster response times. With its ground clearance increased by 15 millimetres to a total of 163 millimetres, the Octavia Scout also comes with a rough-road package, including underride protection on the rear axle. As standard, this variant includes the Off-road driving mode, which fine-tunes the settings of the stability systems, such as ABS, ASR and ESC, to off-road driving. The accelerator pedal then has a flatter characteristic curve, the 7-speed DSG shifts at higher revs and the Proactive Occupant Protection tightening of the seat belts is deactivated. Adapted ambient lighting and Hill Descent Control also come as standard. The towing capacity of an all-wheel drive Octavia is up to 2,000 kilograms for diesel models. In 2022, Škoda produced 14,463 Octavias with all-wheel drive.
Škoda Superb
For the Superb, all-wheel drive with a fifth-generation electronic multi-plate clutch comes as standard for the two most powerful engines – the 2.0 TDI delivering 147 kW (200 hp) and the 2.0 TSI with a 206 kW (280 hp) output. In addition to the Ambition and Style trim levels, the model offered as a saloon and estate is also available in the L&K and Sportline variants, as well as the all-wheel-drive Superb Scout, which is available exclusively as an estate. Both this model and the Octavia Scout offer a Rough-Road Package with 15 millimetres more ground clearance, Off-road driving mode, coordinated ambient lighting and Hill Descent Control. Either drivetrain variant can tow loads of up to 2,200 kilograms. Škoda produced 12,436 units of its Superb 4×4 models in 2022.
Škoda Karoq
The Škoda Karoq compact SUV is available with four-wheel drive across all trim levels from the Ambition equipment line up. Škoda offers 4×4 drive in combination with the 110 kW (150 hp) 2.0 TDI, and the 2.0 TSI delivering 140 kW (190 hp) is also available exclusively for the Karoq Sportline with all-wheel drive. The power distribution is controlled by a fifth-generation electronic multi-plate clutch, while off-road mode can be activated at the touch of a button. Thanks to the 2.0 TDI, the Karoq can tow trailers weighing up to 2,100 kilograms. When parking with a trailer, the optional Trailer Manoeuvring Assistant provides support by manoeuvring it in the desired direction with automatic steering when reversing slowly. Škoda produced 18,203 units of the Karoq 4×4 in 2022.
Škoda Kodiaq
Optionally available with up to seven seats, the SUV offers generous space at the upper end of the compact SUV segment. Like the Karoq, the Kodiaq can also be ordered with all-wheel drive from the Ambition equipment line up, then with the option of the 2.0 TDI, delivering 110 kW (150 hp). In addition, the 2.0 TSI with 140 kW (190 hp) and the 2.0 TDI with 147 kW (200 hp) are available as standard with 4×4 drive for the Style trim level as well as for the Kodiaq L&K and Kodiaq Sportline. Likewise, the sporty top model Kodiaq RS always distributes the 180 kW (245 hp) from its 2.0 TSI to all four wheels. Kodiaq models equipped with all-wheel drive and a diesel engine have a towing capacity of 2,500 kilograms. As with the Karoq, the Trailer Manoeuvring Assistant is available as an option to support the driver in manoeuvring the trailer. 45,170 Kodiaqs were produced in 2022. In total, over 429,000 Kodiaqs have been produced so far, of which more than 309,00 units have all wheel drive.
Škoda Enyaq iV and Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV
Both body variants of the Enyaq iV BEV family are available in two configurations with all-wheel drive. The Enyaq iV 80x and Enyaq Coupé iV 80x as well as the Enyaq RS iV and Enyaq Coupé RS iV each boast two electric motors. The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) on the rear axle produces 150 kW and the induction motor (IM) on the front axle delivers 80 kW. Controlled electronically, they transmit their power directly to the respective axle, thus enabling all-wheel drive. The system output of the Enyaq iV 80x and the Enyaq Coupé iV 80x is 195 kW, with a maximum torque of 425 Nm. The system output of the two RS models is 220 kW*, with up to 460 Nm of torque. This makes the Enyaq iV family RS models Škoda’s most powerful production vehicles currently available. Unlike the rear wheel-drive versions, Enyaq iV models with all-wheel drive give drivers the option of the Traction driving profile; constant four-wheel drive is available at speeds of up to 20 km/h for driving on unpaved roads or slippery surfaces. The Enyaq iV family 80x and RS versions can tow trailers with a maximum weight of 1,400 kilograms on gradients of up to eight per cent. Trailer Manoeuvring Assist is available as an option to help manoeuvre the trailer. In 2022, Škoda Auto produced 15,846 units of the Enyaq iV versions with all-wheel drive.
* Maximum electrical power 220 kW: Maximum power determined in accordance with UN-GTR.21 that can be engaged for a maximum of 30 seconds. The power available in individual driving situations depends on various factors, including the temperature outdoors, the temperature of the high-voltage battery, and its charging status, condition and physical ageing. The maximum power is only available if the temperature of the high-voltage battery is between 23 and 50°C and its charge level exceeds 88%. If these parameters are not met, the maximum power may be reduced or unavailable. The battery temperature can to a certain degree be influenced indirectly via the stationary air conditioning function, and the charge level can be set in the vehicle. The currently available power is shown on the vehicle’s driving performance screen. To optimally maintain the capacity of the high-voltage battery, a charging target of 80% is recommended for everyday use (this can be changed to 100% before long-distance journeys, for example).
