During the award ceremony, Michael Oeljeklaus, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Production and Logistics, emphasised that, “With the ‘dProduction’ project, we have been consistently pressing ahead with the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies. The continuing digitalisation of processes allows us to further optimise production quality, save time and reduce costs. Our state-of-the-art Kvasiny plant is already well advanced in this regard.”
This year, more than 1,200 production sites from 17 countries applied for the Automotive Lean Production Awards. The top 68 were invited to the final congress in Wolfsburg, where they presented their projects for lean production. Prizes were then awarded to the winners of each of the four individual categories.
In addition to the trophies for the best ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’ and ‘Supplier’, the specialist magazine AUTOMOBIL PRODUKTION and Agamus Consult awards two special prizes each year – one of which ŠKODA AUTO received for its ‘dProduction’ digital application that was successfully introduced into the assembly line for the ŠKODA SUPERB, ŠKODA SUPERB iV and the ŠKODA KODIAQ at the Kvasiny plant in April 2019.
Following on from the project having already proven its worth in practice at the Kvasiny site, the Czech manufacturer is also planning to introduce ‘dProduction’ at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav and – in the medium term – at all of the company’s factories.
The specialist magazine AUTOMOBIL PRODUKTION and business consultants Agamus Consult use the Automotive Lean Production – Award & Study initiative to recognise companies and projects that can serve as a benchmark for lean production and digitalisation in the automotive industry. Consequently, the competition for the Automotive Lean Production Awards is held under the motto ‘Learning from the best’. In collaboration with participants, the organisers support the development of lean production and management methods across Europe.
