2020: An electric year

And to give it a fitting start in life, the ENYAQ iV became the Tour de France race director’s car the very next day after its global unveiling:

ŠKODA’s iV brand involves more than just electric cars and plug-in hybrids, though. It is an entire ecosystem that makes life easier for ŠKODA electric car owners and drivers in a Simply Clever way. Battery production is an integral part of electrification – so this year ŠKODA Storyboard gave you an insight into how batteries for plug-in hybrids are made at the Mladá Boleslav plant. In one of the neighbouring factory sheds, cars built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB and MQB platforms are made: the ENYAQ iV, OCTAVIA and KAROQ. This production process is unique within Volkswagen Group.

The family of ŠKODA plug-in hybrids was diversified this year with the addition of the OCTAVIA RS iV: a sporty, dynamic car that manages to remain environmentally friendly.

But it’s not just driving qualities, eMobility and powertrains that are contributing to sustainability. At the premiere of the ENYAQ iV this year, ŠKODA also unveiled its new concept for interiors, which have three distinctive features: purity, innovation and sustainability. This all enhances the pleasant sensation of being at home in your car.

But the premiere of the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV SUV was not all that ŠKODA Storyboard covered on the subject of eMobility and our electric future. You could also find out the difference between iV and eTEC cars or how flywheels are being used to charge cars in Israel and now in Czechia as well, we busted the biggest myths about eMobility, and you could discover what electric cars sound like at low speeds. Naturally, this is done with pedestrians’ safety in mind, but did you know that the sound emitted by the ENYAQ iV was created in collaboration with music composers and producers?

The year 2021 will take ŠKODA and all of us further into a sustainable future.
