Reducing Local Emissions and Building Infrastructure

At Škoda, we’re excited about the electric transformation. We are preparing to launch six new electric vehicles to complement our popular Enyaq series. We’re also increasing our production of MEB battery systems for the VW Group and backing the radical expansion of the charging infrastructure.

Charging infrastructure expansion

We are actively involved in expanding the charging network across the Czech Republic. One of our initiatives includes a collaboration with Prague and PRE to introduce 100 new high-power charging points to the capital by late 2025. Our Powerpass service allows drivers throughout Europe easy access to over 500,000 charging points, including the extensive IONITY network. We’re also working with Elli, a 100% renewable energy provider supplying sustainable power to people’s homes.

Second-generation plug-in hybrid

With the second-generation Kodiaq and fourth-generation Superb, we introduced the second generation of our plug-in hybrid powertrain. It combines a four-cylinder 1.5 TSI (110 kW) from the latest EA211 evo2 engine series with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 150 kW. This power is transmitted to the front wheels via an automatic 6-speed DSG. The upgraded high-voltage battery, with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, enables a purely electric range of over 100 kilometres (WLTP).

Fuel-efficient evo engines

While we’re gearing up for an electric future, we understand that internal combustion engines will remain relevant for many more years. That’s why we’re committed to making them as efficient and eco-friendly as possible. We produce diesel and petrol engines in the evo range from 1.0 to 2.0 litres, offering a power spectrum to cater to the needs of most drivers. We achieve lower fuel consumption and emissions through measures like reducing internal friction, facilitated by plasma coating of the cylinder surface. Depending on the engine family, other advanced features include turbochargers with variable turbine geometry (VTG), SCR systems for reduced NOx emissions, Active Cylinder Timing (ACT) systems, the Miller cycle, and several others.
